Total War: WARHAMMER II betas

For reference, the current live build of Total War: WARHAMMER II is 1.8.3.


The 1.7.2 rollback beta (warhammerii_1.7.2)

This beta allows you to roll your game back to the Total War: WARHAMMER II 1.7.2 patch.

We originally released this build on 16th October 2019, and then following the release of The Shadow & The Blade on 12th December 2019 we changed this to an opt-in beta for those wanting to roll back.

How do I take part in this beta?

To opt in to this beta, please follow these instructions:

  1. Right-click on Total War: WARHAMMER II in your Steam library
  2. Click Properties and click the Betas tab
  3. In the drop-down menu, select the warhammerii_1.7.2 option
  4. Close the window and your build will automatically update

Is there anything else I should know about this beta?

Rolling your game back to the 1.7.2 patch may cause issues with save games and mods. Always check with the authors of your current mod list for advice on what beta you should use for their mods.


The 1.8.3 beta (warhammerii_1.8.3_(live_build))

This beta allows you to opt back in to the current live build of Total War: WARHAMMER II, also known as The King’s Shilling update.

We released this build on 5th February 2020.

To opt in to this beta, please follow these instructions:

  1. Right-click on Total War: WARHAMMER II in your Steam library
  2. Click Properties and click the Betas tab
  3. In the drop-down menu, select the warhammerii_1.8.3_(live_build) option
  4. Close the window and your build will automatically update

The 1.8.4 beta (warhammerii_1.8.4)

The 1.8.4 beta – also known as The Proving Grounds – is an experimental beta where we’ve tinkered with various aspects of balancing across all the races, safely away from the main game

We released this beta on 9th March 2020.

The 1.3.0 rollback beta (old_1.3)

This beta allows you to roll your game back to the Total War: THREE KINGDOMS 1.3.0 patch.

We released this beta on 25th September 2019.
